Only 20 boats operate in California's driftnet fishing industry. Getting an investigator onto one of them isn’t easy. But a heroic Mercy For Animals investigator managed to board two.

Our first-ever investigation into this horrific business unveils an industry that leaves its victims to slowly suffocate, violently saws off the fins of live fish, and drowns animals entangled in its nets. Your generous donations have allowed us to bring our footage to hundreds of thousands of people.

The investigation has received widespread coverage by The Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, ABC7 Los Angeles, and many more outlets. We are working on two legislative efforts to phase out the use of these deadly nets in U.S. waters—for good!

With your support, MFA also released another powerful drone investigation exposing sickening cruelty in the dairy industry. The footage shows row after horrifying row of baby animals suffering miserably in tiny, barren boxes. The video has already received nearly 1 million views!

And I'm excited to announce that celebrities Moby, Alexandra Paul, Andrew Keegan, and Alison Eastwood have joined us in calling on McDonald’s to stop allowing chicken torture in its supply chain. As part of a coalition of animal protection groups, we held eye-catching protests at McDonald’s headquarters in Chicago. More than 130,000 people have signed a petition from a concerned consumer urging McDonald’s to end some of the worst abuses, such as breeding birds to grow so large, so fast that many can’t even walk without pain.

As one of the largest fast-food chains in the world, McDonald's has the purchasing power to end many of the cruelest factory farming practices. With you standing by our side, I know we will win this important campaign and greatly reduce suffering for millions of animals each year.

Sincerely,

Matt Rice
President

We Need You!
The harmful “King Amendment” is back in the farm bill. The amendment would nullify many of the few state laws that protect farmed animals. Please defend animals in your state today by making a few quick calls. Take action.
Eyes in the Skies
A new MFA drone investigation exposes horrific calf hutches—enclosures so small that calves can barely move. The milk industry couldn’t hide this cruelty from our drones. Watch!
